Best 15+ Digital Marketing and Advertising Agencies in Dublin

The first digital marketing decision in Dublin is what not to outsource

Almost every buyer here arrives with some capability already in the building, even if it is one person who inherited the advertising accounts alongside another job. So the real question is not which agency to hire. It is where the line sits between what your own people do and what a supplier does, and that line determines which kind of firm you should even be talking to.

Get it wrong in one direction and you pay an agency to do routine tasks your team could handle, while nobody senior is thinking about the plan. Get it wrong in the other and you keep strategy in house without the experience to direct it, then blame the supplier for executing a weak brief faithfully. Write the split down before you send anything out, and put it in the brief. Candidates who push back on where you drew the line are telling you something useful about their own shape.

Three digital marketing boundaries that work, and one that rarely does

The first workable split gives the supplier a whole channel end to end, including the budget and the reporting, while you keep brand, product messaging and approval. The second keeps everything in house except production, where an agency supplies creative, landing pages and the volume of variants that paid channels consume. The third is the reverse: the agency plans and analyses while your team executes daily, which suits companies with capable operators and no senior planner.

The arrangement that rarely works is the one nobody chose, where both sides do a bit of everything. Tracking gets changed by two parties, campaigns are paused by whoever noticed something first, and every review meeting begins with reconstructing what happened. If your current arrangement feels like that, fixing the boundary will do more for results than changing supplier.

Salary pressure decides which roles you can realistically keep inside

Large technology and pharmaceutical employers set the local pay expectation for marketing skills, and a mid sized company competing for the same people either pays that rate or accepts less experience. That is a budget fact rather than a complaint, and it should inform the split. Roles that are hard to hire and easy to buy by the hour, such as media buying in a channel you use lightly, are good candidates for an agency. Roles that need to be in your meetings, know your product, and carry institutional memory are worth paying for internally even at the local rate.

Ask candidates how they usually work with client side teams of your size, and whether they are staffed to take a channel over entirely if your internal person leaves. That contingency matters more here than in markets with looser labour competition.

Using an agency as a training function, on purpose

One underused arrangement is to buy digital marketing expertise with an explicit transfer requirement: the supplier runs a channel, documents how, and hands it over at an agreed point. It is cheaper than a permanent hire, it builds capability you keep, and it suits a company that intends to bring the work inside once volume justifies a salary.

It only works if it is written down. Say what is being transferred, what documentation looks like, who is trained, and what the fee becomes after handover. Some agencies will decline, which is honest. The ones that agree and then never quite finish the documentation are the reason this needs a date and a deliverable rather than a shared intention.

Access, accounts and a handover you should rehearse before you need it

Whoever does the work, the digital marketing assets belong to you: advertising accounts under your own billing, the analytics property, the tag container, audience lists, conversion definitions, creative source files. Grant access rather than transferring ownership, and review who holds it every few months, because access lists grow quietly and former suppliers stay on them for years.

Then rehearse the exit once while the relationship is good. Ask for a handover pack: current structures, what is running, what was tested and abandoned, where the documentation lives. If producing that takes weeks, you have discovered a dependency you did not know about, and you have discovered it at a moment when you can still fix it calmly.

Digital marketing fees look different when you already have people

A company with internal capability rarely needs a full retainer, and paying for one is how budgets get consumed without anyone noticing. Consider instead a smaller ongoing fee for a named senior person with agreed contact time, plus project work for defined pieces, plus an hourly arrangement for overflow. That structure costs less, keeps the relationship active, and makes it obvious when you are actually buying more.

Whatever the shape, keep the advertising budget out of the fee and hold platform billing yourself. Agree how much notice each side gives, and make sure the notice period is short enough that a poor fit does not cost you half a year.

Comparing digital marketing agencies in Dublin

Send the same written digital marketing brief to three or four firms, including your in house split, and ask each to say where they think it should move and why. Ask for named people with their share of the week, a first quarter plan, a description of a handover they have completed, and a reference at a company that has an internal marketing team rather than one that outsources everything.

If the work extends to the product or to earned coverage, the neighbouring listings for mobile app companies in Dublin, social media teams working here and public relations firms are worth reading before you concentrate everything in one contract. The broader directory of digital marketing agencies helps if you are buying for more than one market, and you can request several proposals at once so the answers arrive together and can be compared without a second round of questions.
